POST-GAZE'B'E, JANUARY 23, 2015 Page 7 Community Ralliee for Lynn Funny Guy Bob 5eibel by Sal Giarratani I love standup comedy and several times I've done it myself at various Sons of Italy halls. Latest was over Roslindale. I think I am funny regardless of what my audience at times may think. Over the years I have become friendly with a bunch of these standup guys like Steve Sweeney, Tony V or Johnny Pizzi. Recently, while taking with Pizzi I found out about Lynn resident Bob Seibel who has kept audiences laughing for some 35 years now. He plays many local venues, but also shows up in Las Vegas and Atlantic City too. He has always been there helping with appear- ances at benefits and fundraisers whenever asked to lend his jokes to a great cause. However, Bob now 73 years old is in need of a helping hand himself. He is battling brain cancer and undergo- ing treatment at Dana Farber in Boston. My good friend Johnny Pizzi is now organizing a "Laugh for a Cause" fundraiser. The show will be held at St. Michael's Hall in LyIm.on February 8m at 2:00 pm. It is going to be a who's who of local comedy legends like Lenny Clarke, Street Magic, Joey Canzano, Steve Sweeney and Tony V among the cast of characters show- ing up to laugh it up for a great guy going through a difficult ordeal. I think it was Milton Berle who said com- edy was serious business and it is indeed quite seri- ous when you think of help- ing out for such a great cause. Pizzi says, "Bob has a long way to go and a tough battle ahead. He wants to live and he wants to keep making people happy and doing the things he does and we're try- ing to help him out." Pizzi expects a sellout crowd. Tickets are still on sale, so give Pizzi a holler at 781-420-1036. I will be there to help Bob and enjoy some great com- edy for a great cause. I might even pick up some new ma- terial for my own gigs. Those old Italian guys at those Sons of Italy lodges are a tough crowd to please. On February 8th I will be in Lynn standing up for Bob Seibel, how about joining me at St. Mary's Hall that af- ternoon? All the glory that was Rome ..... Pompei CAFF Pox.4 P(_I TEL. 617-ZZ7-1562 FAb
