EXTRAInnlngs I by Sal Giarratani They Should Have Clemens Waiting a Bit Longer The newest members of the Red Sox Hall of Fame are Pedro Martinez who deserves immediate entry but to ad- mit him along side Roger Clemens is an insult to the game of baseball and Pedro. What was the rush to vote Rocket Roger in? Why not wait until he eventually gets into Cooperstown years from now? We all know that Clemens wasn't on any juice in his Boston Red Sox period when he won 192 games tied with Cy Young. However, how do you separate the two Rogers, the one in Boston and the one who won 354 games overall while now presumed to be on steroids? Pedro was 219-100 life- time with 117 Sox wins. He broke down at age 34 as he got old. Clemens as he got older, he got better. How'd he do that? Most of us think we know how, right? Notice how off the radar Clemens has been? YOU KNOW WHY? If he starts go- ing public, the questions will come and he apparently wants no part of the ques- tions since he seemingly has no good answers. Let the Rocket fizzle a while longer. Cr/sp Agrees to A's Extension Former Red Sox outfielder Coco Crisp is staying with the Athletics for two more seasons, agreeing to a new contract through 2016 that adds $22.75 million in guar- anteed money. The deal includes a 2017 option. There Goes Bronson The Arizona Diamond- backs and Bronson Arroyo have agreed to a two-year deal worth $3.25 million with a club option for a third. Arroyo, once a Red Sox starter, is a consistent starter with lots of games started per season but over the last three seasons, he has given up 1021 home runs, most in the Majors.
