BOSTON POST-GAZETTE, FEBRUARY 28, 2014 Page 15 Henry Says Shelf Life of Fenway Only 30 Years Red Sox owner John Henry says Fenway Park is probably good for at least another 30 years but after that, the end is near for historic Fenway Park. Does anyone really care about what Henry thinks about the future of the park? Will he still be the owner in 30 years? Will he be dead by then? I am not worried about the year 2044 because I will be 96 by then if I am still even a baseball fan then. Real question will be when the day comes when the park can no longer be fixed where will the new park be built? The Seaport District is gone and the Fenway area is gone too. It will be out to highway land somewhere. Shelf life or no shelf life, who really is getting worried at this point in time. Oh, by the way, will Big Papi, one of the greatest LEGAL NOTICE Commonwealth of Massachusetts The Trial Court Probate and Family Court Middlesex Division 208 Cambridge Street East Cambridge, MA 02141 (617) 768-5800 Docket No. MI13P6430EA Estate of MARIA De CARMEN SILVA Also Known As MARIA TORRES Date of Death June 18, 2006 INFORMAL PROBATE PUBLICATION NOTICE To all persons interested in the above captioned estate, by Petition of Petitioner Guadalupe Holguin of El Paso, TX. Not worried about him either. Teixeira Back in the Swing of Things Mark Teixeira took swings from both sides of the plate recently down in Tampa, his first swings since a wrist injury ended his 2013 sea- son almost before it began. Now he seems ready, warn- ing folks that last year was an aberration and the Yankees are back. Says Teixeira, "You look at the lineup, we're back to being the Yankees again. Last year we weren't the Yankees." Teixeira is ready for 2014 and he was the first position player to get to spring train- ing ready to make' his pre- diction that he and the Yankees are back for real this "upcoming season. Kimbrel and Braves Come to Terms All-Star closer Craig Kimbrel and the Atlanta Braves have agreed to a $42 million, 4-year deal and a $I million signing bonus. Last season he saved 50 games with a 1.21 ERA (shades of Bob Gibson) with 98 strikeouts in 67 innings. In 4 seasons, with Atlanta, he saved 139 games with a 1.39 ERA. He was a NL All- Star the last three years. Reddick Agrees to Terms with Oakland Former Red Sox outfielder Josh Reddick just agreed to a 1-year deal for $2.7 million. Last year he hit .226 with 12 homers and 56 RBIs in only 114 games. David Ortiz Proud to be Big Papi Reportedly, David Ortiz feels hurt by folks bashing him for wanting a one-year extension on his current two-year contract. He thinks he has earned it based on his numbers and thinks those who disagree are just a bunch of haters. He actu- ally admits to being one of the greatest ballplayers ever to wear a Red Sox uniform. I don't remember Red Sox greats such as Babe Ruth, Jimmy Foxx or Ted Williams ever gloating about how great they were as ballplayers. I say give him one more year or we will be forced to listen to him crying the whole season about the lack of respect the Red Sox orga- nization has for him. I am tired of his seasonal whin- ing. It is so uncool. Jimenez Signs with Orioles Free agent Pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez has left the Indians and signed up with the Baltimore Orioles to a con- tract worth $50 million over four seasons. Last year in Cleveland, he went 13-9 with a 3.30 ERA in 32 starts. The Orioles are looking to increase their starting rota- tion in hopes of capturing the AL East championship. Papelbon and the Phillies When Red Sox Closer Jonathan Papelbon left the Red Sox for a $50 million, four-year deal with the Phillies in late 2011, he was hoping for great things for him and his new team. The Phillies were a .500 team in 2012 and went only 73-89 in 2013. He told reporters at one point last season that he didn't come to Philadel- phia for that. Pap was a three time All-Star in Boston but with his new team not so good. Last season, he did go 5-1 with a 2.92 ERA and did get 29 saves. However, along the way he blew seven save situations. Let us see if fourth time is the charm for Pap.
