Run date: 3/6/15 News Briefs (Continued from Page i) means more cheaply paid janitors, dishwashers, etc. At this point, I see Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell seemingly play- ing politics when it comes to immigration and the president's executive order. I hear folks like US Senators John McCain and Lindsay Graham sounding like they are trying to play both ends against the middle. These RINOs seem to be more con- cerned about their political image than actually doing something about the prob- lem. At election time, they sound like Barry Goldwater but post-election, they turn into George McGovern. A more modern analogy might be either Ted Cruz or Charlie Schumer for the millennial generation. The Return of Susan Rice National Security Adviser Susan Rice is back again. Recently on Charlie Ross' PBS show, she blasted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's scheduled March 3rd address to Con- gress as "destructive of the fabric of our relationship" between Israel and the United States. Netanyahu, like Winston Churchill before him, is wor- ried about the gathering storm surrounding his coun- try. Back in the 1930s, it was Nazi storm troopers across Europe. This time it is Radi- cal Islam and the threat of Iranian nuclear weapons. Israel is one of our strongest allies and the only free, civi- lized and stable nation in the Middle East. The prime min- ister is coming to America to warn Congress of the mortal threats his country, as well as and ours, face if we don't stand up together and stop empowering the forces of evil. The national security of civilization hangs in the balance. CPAC Nonsense Every February The Conservative Political Action Conference has be- come an annual event for conservatives across the country. It takes place every year and showcases the best conservative stars of the pre- vious year as well as giving attendees a chance to see all the up-and-coming future prospects of both the GOP and the conservative movement. It's a chance to hear the latest conservative blabber and see some of the biggest names in the news. There are dinners, guest speakers, programs, hustlers, all push- ing campaign buttons for sale and workshops for local folks to take back home with them. Many of those attending are conservative Republi- cans or Tea Party activists. All are there to energize the movement and themselves. Back in the 1970's, I at- tended CPAC and it gave me a chance to see activists from across America and also a good chance to see Washing- ton, DC. U.S Rep. John Ashbrook was the big star when I attended. Conserva- tives loved him, some even wanted to see him in the White House. I was young, so I thought he was much too old, he was probably 48 years old at the time. Today, I can't even remem- ber which state he repre- sented in Congress. I did, however, buy plenty of neat campaign buttons. Who's big this year? Scott Walker, Chris Christie, Ted Cruz, Rand Paul and trendy Sarah Paltn. Who's not? John McCain, Mitch McConnell, and most of all, Jeb Bush. Recently, Mark Levin called Jeb Bush, the "Dumbest Bush" on his weekday talk show. Ouchl Oh, I forgot Rick Perry, I still like him even though he imploded on stage back in 2012 answering a softball question. Perry is my Pat Buchanan this year. Bottom line, the Republi- cans are screwing up on Capitol Hill after their No- vember landslide. The Democrats are still messing with them and seemingly winning the game. We have less than two years to go and who is the frontrunner for the GOP? Jeb Bush? Many Republicans can't stand him. If he goes up against Hillary, we can expect another Clinton in the White House. What's a good conserva- tive to do but whine at the moment?
