The 5 Annual Women in Comedy Festival (WICF) headlines Rachel Dratch and Horatio Sanz (both Saturday Night Live alumni), as well as Maria Bamford (Comedians of Comedy, Louie (FX), Comedy Central Presents, Comedy Central Records Un- wanted Thoughts Syndrome, Cartoon Network' s Adventure Time, PBS's WordGirl and multiple Late Night comedy appearances). The four-day festival will feature 26 shows from 200 of the hottest female (and male!) ,stand-up, improv, storytelling, sketch and musical comedy acts from around the world -- and of course, Boston. Stand-ups performing on this year's WICF have been featured on Showtime, HBO, MTV, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon (NBC), Comedy Central, Just for Laughs, the Edin- burgh Fringe Festival, Last Comic Standing (NBC), Nickel- odeon's Search for America's Funniest Mom (Nick), Stand up in Stilettos (TV Guide Channel), Subur-gatory and Chelsea Lately (El). Now in its fifth year, WICF has hosted hundreds of comedic artists including Carol Leifer, Wendy Lieb- man, Edie McClurg, Kristen Schaal, Morgan Murphy, Jackie Kashian, Jen Kirk- man, Arden Myrin, Erin Jackson and Myq Kaplan. SNL alumni Rachel Dratch (Boston native) and Horatio Sanz will kick off the festi- val with top improvisers from the UCB Theater. The UCB has been home to some of the biggest stars in comedy today, from Saturday Night Live and Happy Endings to The Office and Parks and Recreation. UCB Theater has produced writers for top shows like the Colbert Re- port, the Da//y Show with Jon Stewart, MAD TV and more. March 22 will feature Blessed Feathers, a duo of Donivan Berube and Jacque- lyn Beaupre, who.are part- ners in both music and life. March 23 hosts Dan and the Wildfire are most noted for their crisp, soulful and rootsy sound, as well as their ability to write songs that are both honest and sing- able. The group will be per- forming tw.o sets at this very special show at the Red Room. Each will include a horn section and a string section, respectively and Cara Brindisi opens the show. March 25th features Elec- tric bassist Lenny Brown and pianist and vocalist Sarah Walk and her band will present a selection of songs from her EP White Noise, as well as some new material from her next CD.
