DONATe- March 31, 2012 SIMON He - Education President's Award Simon Siu-Wah He is a native of Hong Kong, China, where he com- pleted his secondary education. Simon moved to Italy where he would study for four years. There, he learned the language and culture of Italy. During his sojourn, Simon met people from many parts of the world. These expe- riences have enriched Simon's world view and his appreciation for the values of cultural diversity. After departing from Italy, Simon went to Boston to pur- sue his college education. He attended Northeastern Univer- sity and received his undergraduate and Master degrees in Economics. Upon graduation Simon was hired as a Bilingual Chinese teacher. Still devoted to his teaching, Simon sought ways to expand the reach of his skills and talents. As a school administrator he reasoned that he could use his teaching ex- periences, his languages skills, and his cultural background to benefit his school. With the guidance and assistance of his school mentors and family, Simon completed his studies in Educational Administration. Recognizing his special talents, the Boston Public Schools appointed Simon to the Principal- ship of the Curtis Guild School in East Boston. Here, Simon was able to utilize his language capacity and love for the cul- tures to lead and form strong bonds within the community. Answering the call of his administrative superiors, Simon agreed to leave the Curtis Guild School for new challenges awaiting him at the Josiah Quincy Elementary School. Now, as the Principal, Simon uses his rich administrative experiences and great interpersonal skills to better the school. One of the column for the Boston Globe.
