BOSTON POS~T~GAZE'rrE;,MARCIR2~, 2012 l=,age.t Hoops & Hockey (Continued BC has held its opponents to two goals or less in 14 out of those last 15 games with Milner having stopped 398 of 417 shots he's faced, includ- ing a career high 41-save performance in the Hockey East championship game. That converts to a 1.25 goals against average and a .954 save percentage during the win streak. The Hockey East success propelled the Eagles into the NCAA Northeast Regional in Worcester marking the 13th time in the last 15 seasons that York has led a BC team to an NCAA berth. And the Eagles certainly came out of Hockey East with some impressive statistics, ranking fifth nationally in fewest goals allowed per game (2.17), third in penalty from Page 16) kill rate (87.7 percent), fourth in goals scored per game (3.52) and 13th in power play conversion rate (21.5 percent). BC senior alter- nate captain Barry Almeida came out of Hockey East tied for first in the nation in power play goals, having scored a career-high 11 in man advantage situations this season. So all in all, it was an- other successful Hockey East Tournament for the Eagles. It was on to the NCAA Regional. And al- though nothing can be taken for granted in the regionals, the road to Worcester will certainly be a whole lot smoother than that five-hour ride in the dark coming back from Maine just over two months ago. Let's hope he pitches better in Philadelphia than he did recently for us. In 2010, he looked more like an arson- ist than a fireman. Not many were sad to see him leave for greener pastures. He did well for most of his time here but like Dick Radatz long before him, it was over be- fore he knew it. I would see about 15 games a year, especially when big stars from other teams were in the visitor dugout. I would always look forward to those exhibition games with the Milwaukee Braves to benefit the Jimmy Fund. Then, I would get to see NL stars like Warren Spahn, Eddie Matthews and Hank Aaron. Getting back to Pap, I en- joyed watching him pitch in his prime and he was quite good. He was never better than the amazing Miriano Rivera for the NY Yankees and I still think for the short term (1962-64), there was no one better than Dick "The Monster" Radatz. Good luck to the Philadelphia Phillies, they can only hope Papelbon has become that closer again. I do wish him well but he needs to get new mate- rial before he takes his stand up on the road.
