(photo by Hilda M. Morrill) The 2011 Boston Flower & Garden Show is but a memory, as is the fabulous Preview Party that preceded it. But, we are delighted to re-live it and share a few photos of members of "The Socially Set" in attendance. The elegant soiree took place on March 15, at the Seaport World Trade Center. Party guests enjoyed a "sneak peek" at New England's largest horticul- tural event while raising funds to benefit the Fund for Boston Parks and Recre- ation, which helps support environmental projects and park beautification projects throughout the city. Bianca de la Garza of WCVB-TV 5 was the evening's emcee and the event co-chair wfth Randy Price, who sadly was not able to attend the party. Mayor Thomas M. Menino and Mrs. Angela Menino were the honorary co-chairs. Among the many V.I.P. guests and dignitaries were Boston Parks Commissioner Antonia Pollak; Katherine Macdonald, the new execu- tive director of the Massa- chusetts Horticultural Soci- ety; Henry Lee, president of the Friends of the Public Garden; and Vivien Li of the Boston Harbor Association, to name but a few. The 2011 show, with the theme of "A Burst of Color: Celebrating the Container Garden," was produced by Paragon Group of Needham, event marketer and producer of major events, including the New England Interna- tional Auto Show and the National Golf Expo Boston. To view the list of the award winners at the Show, be sure to visit the Facebook pages of The Boston Flower & Garden Show. We have also posted images of some of the show's horticultural displays on the Facebook page of BostonGardens.com. ....... Incidentally, this evening Friday, April 1, we all have an opportunity to preview the "Step into Spring" flower and garden show at the Chestnut Hill Mall. The "Taste of Spring VIP Preview Party" includes a reception, from 7 to i0 p.m., featuring cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
