With a location already in the South End "Blo" has added a new edition in the Seaport "Body. By Blo." The night started off with a warm greeting. The space was fabulous! It was a classy mixture of matte charcoal grey, fresh white walls and d6cor with a pop of color- ful products lines to high- light the room. Front and center was a long table for full nail services that fea- tured "Morgan Taylor" pro- fessional nail color. The sta- tions were innovative with perfectly placed mirrors to catch all the styling tips given throughout your session. You can bet this location will be receiving a Boston's Best "Customer Service" award. There is bright cursive lettering right above the wash area that reads "Hello Gorgeous" and that is exactly how they with the little time they had to transform-a back room in the newly built build- ing to create the stylish party. There was a DJ, danc- ing, photo area, tasty treats and fruity drinks. There were plates of passed sweet potato puffs, mini tacos, rasp- berry mousse and more. The caterer and owner of Matt Harker Events was on site himself preparing the delec- table delights for the guests to indulge in. The night was filled" with some of the Hub's hot- test glitterati like New Eng- land Patriots Cheerleaders, former Miss Rhode Island Julianna Clare Strout, now a great addition to Massa- chusetts society and future hopeful Boston City Council member were just a few on the lengthy list. I was able to get a chance to chat with Franchise Partner Gina Gesamondo and asked what was special about her new edition. The VIP "Pretty in Pink" party was a tasteful event with a great look into the amazing business that is taking the industry in a new direction. The "Heartbeat of Home," a music-and dance "extrava- ganza" by the producers and director of "Riverdance," opened at Citi Performing -Arts Center Wang Theatre and will bring international entertainment to Boston through April 6% Described as a "tantalizing, high-octane, sexy music and dance extravaganza" that is a "heart-stopping tour de force" It combines tradi- tional Irish, Latin and Afro- Cuban music and dance with a cast of 37. There is a 10-piece band with music by eortlpos~'l~iZfan Byrne (a Golden Globe nominee for "Albert Nobbs"). "The Making of Heartbeat of Home" is a documentary that has played on PBS. A CD of music from the show, in- cluding "Lead Me Home" by "American Idol" runner-up Jessica Sanchez, was re- leased last month. Celeb- rity Series of Boston will present the eclectic Brazil- ian sounds of Th.e Assad Family on Saturday, April 5~ at 8:00 pm at the New En- gland Conservatory's Jordan Hall. This is the sixth perfor- mance for the Assad Broth- ers with the Celebrity Series of Boston, and the debut for Clarice, Badi, and Carolina Assad. Brazilian-born broth- ers S6rgio and Odair Assad began playing the guitar to- gether at an early age and went on to study for seven years with guitar/lutenist Monina T~vora, a disciple of Andr6s Segovia. Their inter- national career began with a major prize at the 1979 Young Artists Competition in Bratislava. The Assad's rep- ertoire includes original music composed by S6rgio Assad and his re-workings of folk and jazz music as well as Latin music of almost ev- ery style. Their standard classical repertoire includes transcriptions of Bach, Rameau and Scarlatti, and adaptations of works by fig- ures such as Gershwin, Ginastera and Debussy. The Assad brothers record primarily for the Nonesuch and GHA labels. In 2001 Nonesuch Records released "S6rgio and Odair Assad Play Piazzolla," which went on to win a Latin Grammy Award. Their seventh Nonesuch recording, released in the fall 2007, is called "Jardim Abandonado" after a piece by Antonio Carlos Jobim. It was nominated for Best Classical Album and Sergio went on 'to win the Latin Grammy for his composition, "Tahiiyya Li Oussilina." They also have collaborated with many artists, including an on- going collaboration with Yo-Yo Ma, who they appeared alongside with in Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Com- panion in 2009. In 2010 the duo toured with Lebanese- American singer Christiane Karam, percussionist Jamey Haddad and composer/pia- nist Clarice Assad. S6rgio composed a concerto for the duo, which they performed in February 2011 with the Seattle Symphony. Odair is based in Brussels, where he teaches at l~cole Sup6rieure des Arts. S6rgio resides in San Francisco, where he is on the faculty of the SF Conservatory, and Paris. The brothers Assad first introduced three gen- erations of The Assad Fam- ily to North America in 2004. Their sister Badi has long been known for her remark- able vocal range and her unique song style, both live and ori CO. S6rgio's daugh- ter Clarice is a budding com- poser, pianist and vocalist with several symphonic works to her name.
