Late one night last week, I was down at Dunkin' Donuts on Bennington Street when I noticed John Sepulveda at the next table talking with Nick Moulaison, Jr. I recognized both immedi- ately. Sepulveda is a candi- date this year for Register of Probate in Suffolk County. Right now there are five can- didates in this race. I have noticed all of them out there campaigning and collecting signatures. Nick is one of Sepulveda's main campaign guys and the two of them were discussing campaign strategy in what looks like a great race with a lot of good candidates too. Sepulveda told me he is working very hard at getting out and meeting voters across the entire county and has been getting a good reception wherever he goes. Dan Minton of the Quincy Po- lice Department, who serves as Quincy's Crime Preven- tion Officer, passed on a re- cent seam going around. An Internal -Revenue Service seam is occurring around the nation. Citizens get calls from a scammer saying he's with the IRS and that you owe money. The threats of shutting off your utilities have resulted in many wir- ing money to the scammer on the phone. Remember the IRS never makes phone calls to collect taxes and they don't make threats about your utilities. If you owe back taxes, the IRS mails you the notice. No phone calls ever. Rep. For more details call Mary at 617-327-7306. DOCTORS PRESCRIBING BIKE SHARING MEMBERSHIPS Under a new City of Bos- ton program to subsidize bike sharing memberships for low-income folk. The pro- gram at Boston Medical Cen- ter "Prescribe-a-Bike," would allow doctors at the medical center to prescribe low-in- come patients with a year- long membership to Hubway for only five bucks. They will also get a free bike helmet. Already 900 residents of Boston are subsidized into Hubway bikes. Now through Boston Medical Center, this new program will add an- other 1,000 folks to the world of gimmes with five dollar bikes and free helmets.
