He also started to rebuild the Lancer facilities in Framingham which was formally desig- nated as Camp Dino DiCarlo in 2002. For his many years of dedicated service to the Lancers and the state, Mario was promoted to brigadier general in 2002. The second and third gen- erations of the DiCarlo fam- ily serve today. Capt. Helen DiCarlo-Reale is the assis- tant adjutant, her sons Maj. Darin Reale and Col. Richard Reale, Jr. also serve in the unit. Mario's son Maj. James DiCarlo serves in the troop and is also the post engineer. The National Lancers have been reenacting the rides of William Dawes and Paul Revere every Patriots Day since 1904. Darin Reale will ride as William Dawes this year. The National Lancers will be celebrating their 176 th anniversary this June due in large part to the DiCarlo family that has taken such a great interest in the organization.
