Bob has been a writer for many years at the Post-Gazette, covering everything from college and high school sports, church and community events from the North End, Charlestown and East Boston. Bob kept the community together with his reporting on the positive contributions by so many, especially in his beloved North End. Bob will be missed and we ask that you keep him in your prayers. Representative Aaron Michlewitz is holding a fundraiser on Sunday, April 25 from 5pm till 10pm at Prezza Restaurant on Fleet Street. Part of the funds raised will benefit North End Against Drugs. KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS ANNIVERSARY The I00 th Anniversary Mass for the Knights of Columbus Ausonia Council 1513 took place on Sunday, April 18 th at Sacred Heart Church• A Communion Breakfast followed at Tecce's. This is quite an accomplishment. We "Salute the Knights," and all the fine work they do within the North End. MGH, NORTH END HEALTH CENTER HONORS BARBARA MALDERO The Annual Massachusetts General Hospital Health Center Award Ceremony will take place at Everett High School from 5:00pm to 9:00pm on May 64. The North End Neighborhood Center award recipient is Barbara Maldero. Admission is free and the North End Nazzaro Center will perform. RED SOX FOUNDATION SUPPORTS NEAA BASEBALL Special "Thank You" to Anne Zeiger, Jonathan and their staff for once again providing Red Sox rookie ball shirts and caps for the NEAA rookie ball teams. The Red Sox and the North End continue a long term partnership of coming together for our young people. DOMINIC AMARA, STEVE VIRGILIO TO BE HONORED The Charlestown Community Award Night will take place on Friday, May 7 th at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Charlestown. Dr. Domenic Amara, Principal of the Warren Prescott School will be honored with the William McCabe Public Servant Award. EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS The Archdiocese of Boston Annual Eucharistic Congress will take place on April 23 "a and 244 at St. Leonards Church, Sacred Heart Church and St. John School in the North End. Bob Ofoedu from St. Clement has been name to the Eastern Massachu- setts Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Scholar-Athlete Team. East Boston High baseballers go into the week at 2-2. The Jets defeated O'Bryant 9-2 on Joe Ortiz's two hitter, backed by a three run homer by Rowanny Estrella and freshman Manny Martinez three run blast led the Jets pass Brighton. SPRING FOOTBALL AT BC The Annual Jay McGillis Memorial Spring Football Game and Family Day takes place this Saturday, April 244 at Boston College. The games begins at l:00pm at Alumni Field, and Family Fun Day activities takes place at the Flynn Complex from l l:00am- l:00pm. Admission is free. LACROSSE ANYONE? The Harvard Men's Lacrosse Team will host Princeton at l:00pm on Saturday, April 244 . Youth teams wearing their team jerseys will be admitted free. BEANPOT BASEBALL In the Semifinals of the Beanpot Baseball Tournament BC defeated Harvard 10-9, and Northeastern defeated UMass 8-5. BC and Northeastern will play for the Beanpot Championship on Wednesday, April 21 st at 7:00pm at Campanelli Field in Brockton. COLLEGE BOARD Six Hockey East players have been named to the 2010 Reebok All American Team by the American Hockey Coaches Association. First Team honors went to Bobby Butler (UNH), Gustav Nyquist (Maine) and Colby Cohen (BU). Second Team honors to Blake Kessel (UNH), Brian Foster (UNH), Justin Braun (UMASS). Cornell Basketball Coach Steve Donahue has been named new Coach of the BC Eagles. PROLINE Watching the NHL Playoffs last Thursday, I couldn't help remember that thanks to my Frozen Four trips I had the opportunity to attend the homes of the Buffalo Sabres and the Washington Capitols great trips.
