Everyone raved about the food, the lo- cation, the great raffle and silent auction prizes, and the atmosphere created by the fun group of people who attended. The dinner was hosted by Marie Parker Orlandi and Karen Parker Meyers, for their Relay for Life "Miles of Memories" team for the American Cancer Society. The many donors that pro- vided funding and prizes were recognized by them, as well as the businesses, as- sociations, family and friends that helped make the event such a success. They would also like to ex- tend a special thanks to Filippo's Ristorante for a job WELL DONE! Karen and Marie will be walking overnight for the sixth consecutive year at the Burlington High School track on June 13-14, 2015. If you would like to make a donation or join their team, by either walking with them or fundi-aising, please feel free to contact either Karen at or Marie at marie.orlandi@ "We do this in memory of those we love and lost and in honor of our loved ones that are currently fight- ing and surviving cancer," Marie said. "We are deter- mined to have more happy memories and birthdays together." I work here too. You may know my real estate firm, RealtyVentures in Day Square. Like you, I own property here and still make East Boston my home. While some of us may have inherited our property from the hard work of our parents & grandparents, or by saving & sacrificing, &nd whether we choose to live in them as our primary residence or manage them as investments for our children, the important thing is we are home owners in East Boston. But let's be honest. We often look at other parts of Boston and ask, why can't we be more like them? The North End with their terrific restaurants and nicely developed waterfront, Chadestown's historical settings and quaint streets, the Back Bay's well maintained brownstones, condos & retail shops, Beacon Hill, Southie, Seaport ... The list goes on. For East Boston the answers are varied & complex. But all in all it comes down to one thing ... PEOPLE. Neighborhoods change when people change. East Boston is a great place to live. And is getting better every year. Consider the power we have as landlords! We can make significant changes to our neighborhood, if we act TOGETHER. If we act TOGETHER, we can make a better, safer community with improved value. We don't need new laws. We don't need political influence. We don't need government interference. All we need is what we already have: desire, purpose and like-mindedness!!! This letter is a call to action. Let's make East Boston better. Let's work together. Let's stick together.
