POST-GAZETTE, MAY 13, 2011 Page 5 St. Leonard's 2011 First Holy Communion (Photo by Dora Campochiaro, D&S Video, CONGRATULATIONS JOHN CHRISTOFORO! John Christoforo will celebrate 20 years as the writer of the weekly Post-Gazette col- umn Nanna and Babbononno on May 15, 2011. I wish to extend my gratitude to John for keeping traditions alive by writing the countless stories he experienced as an Ital- ian American growing up in East Boston and then moving on to other areas in which he never lost his love of "everything" Italian. His stories remind people of an era of days gone by and they also entertain younger readers of days that do not exist any more and cannot be replicated. Through the sto- ries of Nanna and Babbononno we remem- ber the labor of love Italians have for work, food, and family. Times have certainly changed and people like John among my other great writers are keeping traditions alive. Buona Fortuna and in the words of John "May God Bless America".
