Basile said that after his Dad passed away, his Mother sent her children to the Club because it was a safe place for kids. He added, "In many ways, it saved my life." Special thanks go out to the owners of Danilchuk Auto Body on Addison Street who donated $3,000 to the Club. Youth of the Year Recipient - Ms. Elizabeth Yepes. Last Thursday, former state Rep. and Chief Secretary to the Governor Carlo Basile hosted the 84 annual Salesians Boys & Girls Club Camp Scholarship Breakfast at the clubhouse on Byron Street. Basile, a former member of the club during his youth, welcomed all the local elected officials and guests to the event. Father John Nazzaro, execu- tive director of the Club, was hoping to raise lots of money for scholarships for low-income families through donations and the live auction. Joe Ruggiero served as the live auctioneer and Father John said prior to the event, "We are calling out to all com- munity leaders, business, and. friends to celebrate youth by coming together for this worthy event." And come together they all did. Some 1,000 kids are active club members and about 350 kids use the Club every day.
