This, just in time for the Novem- ber election, where he is try- ing to oust U.S. Rep. John Tierney whom he almost beat two years ago. Tierney will first have to beat two Democrat hopefuls in the September primary, Iraqi vet Seth Moulton and lawyer Marisa DeFranco. The U.S. Chamber of Com- merce has already endorsed Tisei. This is a race to be watched. For more information, call 1-774-259-9809. KUDOS TO REP. HANK NAUGHTON State Rep. Hank Naughton, a veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan has taken his stand to demand changes in V.A. services. The Massa- chusetts State Legislature has sent a resolution to Washington, DC demanding the federal government in- vestigate the U.S. Depart- ment of Veteran Affairs. Rep. Naughton stated, "The men and women who return home from risking the ulti- mate sacrifice to protect our freedoms deserve the best services available. The fact that the (V.A.) has extensive wait lists and continued backlog is unacceptable." I join with him and all our state legislators and seek the federal government to take swift and deliberate action to ensure our veter- ans get the treatment they deserve when needed. BAN ON SHACKLING PREGNANT INMATES Governor Patrick recently signed into law a bill ban- ning the shackling of preg- nant inmates. The governor noted, "IT BLOWS MY MIND THAT I HAVE TO SIGN A LAW FOR THAT." On this issue, I completely agree with the governor. Whatever happened to common sense is beyond me in today's world. WHAT DID SHE SAY? Back in April when Attor- ney General Martha Coakley was asked about the Jarred Remy case, she responded, "It was a circumstance where from my experience in looking at thousands of cases that we see every day not all of the things that hap- pened in that case happen, but the kinds of things that happen in that case many of us have seen happen time and time again." I think this is where we all "Press 2 for English," Right? KEATING UNDERSTANDS WHAT NEEEDS TO BE DONE Recently, my former Con- gressman Bill Keating helped strengthen a bill that passed in the U.S. House by adding the so-called Keating Amend- ment which had strong bi- partisan support. It compels the FBI, Homeland Security and the Office of the Direc- tor of National Intelligence to turn over an assessment of their information-sharing processes within 90 days. The measure hopefully will be also passed by the U.S. Senate. Thank goodness, Massa- chusetts has congressmen like Keating and Steve Lynch fighting to make our government serve better for us. Keating is right, had information been shared, we might have caught the latest alleged cohort in the bombing case sooner.
