Patrick Chooses Illegal Rights Over Public Safety by Sal Giarratani Despite numerous and sometimes fatal crashes in- volving illegal immigrants driving "legally" in Massa- chusetts due to an unbeliev- able Registry of Motor Ve- hicles protocol, Governor Patrick vetoes strong bipar- tisan efforts to prevent such accidents from being re- peated over and over again. Legislators proposed requir- ing proof of legal residency in order to get a car on the road. This move would have hopefully, stopped un- licensed and illegal im- migrants from getting behind the wheel here in the Commonwealth. Too often, illegal immi- grants are involved in seri- ous crashes without drivers' licenses. Other times, these illegals actually have a valid RMV auto registration with- out even proving their legal residency. Illegals should not be issued drivers' li- censes or auto registrations without proving they are in this country legally. Gover- nor Patrick is obviously more concerned about keeping Massachusetts out of immi- gration enforcement and has stated that Massachu- setts would not be adopting any Arizona legislation knocking that border state from securing its own bor- ders. Meanwhile, our gover- nor seems far less concerned about the public safety of all our legal drivers on the road. Our governor thinks a util- ity bill or a car insurance policy should be enough to register a car. Excuse me, how do you get to buy insur- ance without the car being registered? What insurance company would pay out a claim to an unregistered car or to an unlicensed driver involved in any crash incident? The governor is playing politics and a game of h0cus pocus with Bay State resi- dents. We should have no unauthorized drivers out (Continued on Page 13) (Photo by Rosario Scabin, Ross Photography) On Sunday, July 8, 2012, devotees of Madonna del Grazie held their annual procession through the streets of Boston's North End. The Society was founded in Boston in 1903 by natives of San Sossio Baronia Avellino. Accompanying the devotees in the procession were the Saint Alfio's Band and the Northeast Italian Band. Madonna delle Grazie (Our Lady of Graces) is a devotion to the Virgin Mary in the Roman Catholic Church. (Additional photos on Page 8)
