It's all part of VSA's 30th anniver- sary of providing greater ac- cess to the arts. The VSA Zestival features a "Flash Mob" spontaneous public dance - the "Bunny Hop" - at South Station and Dewey Square Plaza. The first 100 people to join in the bunny hop will get FREE bunny ears! Hundreds of people will dance the Bunny Hop together in an expression of creativity and diversity. Besides join- ing the Bunny Hop, Sidewalk Sam, known for his chalk drawings and public arts events on the streets of Bos- ton for 40 years, will be draw- ing a giant chalk artwork. "Quickie Performances" of music, dance and poetry will also be presented in front of South Station and on Dewey Square Plaza. Poets, paint- ers, chalk artists, dancers, musicians, actors, and any- one willing to share their love of the arts to help VSA Massachusetts create a VSA "Zestival" are welcome to participate. We invite you to join in the fun. People will participate by: 1) Doing the "Bunny Hop" 2) Giving a "quickie perfor- mance" of your own - music, dance, song, or poetry on the sidewalk for the thousands of pedestrians passing by. 3) You can help Sidewalk Sam create the giant art- work 4) You can staff an infor- mation table, pass out litera- ture and act as "hosts" to the public for VSA Massachu- setts and our affiliates. Participants dance in a line, holding on to the hips of the person in front of them. They tap the floor two times with their right foot, then with their left foot, then they hop forwards, backwards, and fi- nally three hops forward to finish the sequence, which continues throughout the tune. The first person in the line leads the group around the floor. Lombardo's Function Facility Completes Redecoration Project While most Massachusetts businesses are starting to show signs of a recovery after dealing with the country's worst economic depression in over 70 years, one local family business not only survived, but is already investing in the future. The Lombardo family, owners of The Lombardo's Conference and Function Facilities, Randolph, Mass., recently completed a six-month long, redecoration project. "We survived the reces- sion by lowering operational costs in order to continue pro- viding the exceptional ser- vice our customers have come to ex- pect in our nearly 50 years in busi- ness," said Paula Lombardo, Chief Administrative Of- ricer. When Lombardo's closed its East Bos- ton location in 2000, the Randolph location became the sole focus for the family business.
