This amazing rescue effort is now bringing public attention not only to Sig, but also to the Wildlife Heritage Foundation, which provides for his needs. The training and upkeep of New Hampshire Fish and Game K-9 Dogs is funded through the Wildlife Heri- tage Foundation of New Hampshire, a non-profit or- ganization focused on state- wide conservation efforts. The Foundation is main- tained through private fi- nancial support and dona- tions, and seeks to maintain services not covered by state funding. "To recognize Sig's accom- plishment and the excep- tional service provided by the Wildlife Heritage Foundation of New Hampshire, we would like to sponsor Sig's care for the next year," said Ron Cohen, SIG SAUER Presi- dent and Chief Executive Officer. "We consider it an honor to support our state's law enforcement officers, even those of the four-legged variety." Along with his handler, Conservation Officer Mark Hensel, Sig led searchers to the small child, who had crawled away from his family's campsite near 00est Parziale's Bakery Italian Breads, Pizza, Pizza Dough, Cookies & Pastry 80 PRINCE STREET BOSTON, MA (NORTH END) 617-523-6368 Augie Parziale, Owner Over 100 Years of Service Est. 1907 Wholesale/Retail www.parzialebakery.com (From left) SIG SAUER VP Bud Fini presents a support check to K-9 Officer Sig and his handler N.H. Fish and Game Officer Mark Hensel at the SIG SAUER facility in Exeter, N.H. Farmington. Sig is one of just two K-9 Conservation dogs currently working in the state program. This keeps Sig and his sharp sense of smell in high de- mand. It's not uncommon for Sig and Officer Hensel to be called out to all comers of the state seven days a week. "Sig's workload and dedica- tion to duty is a reflection on Officer Hensel, as well," Cohen said. "And hopefully this recognition will inspire others to help support this very important program.
