For the past 18 years, Paul Pingaro committee members have raised money by various means. This year, committee members sold raffle tickets. Sovereign Bank customers are talking about a sign posted at the bank notify- ing any "customer wearing a hoodie and sunglasses will not be allowed into the bank." While this is good practice, the bank has failed to post signs reading anyone wearing burkas cover- ing their identity should not be permitted. That's what's wrong with this country, religion is governing before safety. These are dangerous times and Sov- ereign Bank customers believe wearing a Burka is more non- revealing of one's identity than a hoodie ... Violence continues to plague law enforcement, and the public believes the govern- ment isn't doing enough to protect our law officers against these murderers and agitators ... Free Sales Tax Weekend in August has been taken away in Massachusetts. The Free Sales Tax Weekend was started in 2004 by, I believe, former State Senate President Robert Trava- giini, to enhance business and give consumers a break from sales tax. Governor Charlie Baker now contends the State needs the money and is elimi- nating the tax free weekend. A disappointed public has this to say: Stop doling out tax money to unnecessary programs such as adding more social programs that are depleting the state of funds, and start thinking of the poor working people whose sweat pays for all of their FREE- BIE'sII! ... An example of what the government promises and what we end up getting: City and State authorities promised the Lottery would lower taxes; it never happened. Now the State will soon be asking to legalize recreational marijuana that they say will bring in millions to cities and the state. Where do you think that money will go? In the wrong direction per- haps? If a bill passes making recreational marijuana legal, people in the Commonwealth will be stuck with more addicts, and the State will continue cry- ing poor mouth!...
