I have learned so much working at the Post-Gazette. I sit very close to my boss Pamela Donnaruma and I have learned the ins and outs of putting a weekly paper to- gether. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to pub- lish a paper each week. The Post-Gazette has faithfully for 114 Years provided continu- ous service to our readers. On July 25 my boss Pam attended the Saint Joseph's Society annual feast and she enjoyed a musical tribute to the Men & Women of the U.S. at the Prado (Paul Revere Mall), in the North End of Bos- ton. During this event Pam was given a special award for the 114 th anniversary and gratitude for the news that makes the Post-Gazette the most popular Italian-Ameri- can newspaper in Massachu- setts. Congratulations are in order to the success of the Post-Gazette from generation to generation. This paper is unique because it is still owned and operated indepen- dently and what amazes me the most is the fact that it has been passed on within the Donnaruma family. It is quite an accomplishment for a young woman to have the desire to follow in her grandfather's and parents' footsteps as the 3 rd genera- tion as publisher and editor. To have come this far and this long would make any grandfather, father and mother proud of a daughter and granddaughter that has accomplished the greatest gift to keep their paper going strong and successful. As I would say "Only in America". Congratulations my boss, job well done. You have made us all proud of you. You deserve the acknowledement. I am a male pooch who is proud to work for one of the few women editors in community newspa- pers. Success is a word you earned! That's all for now ... Life is good! ATLANTIC WORKS GALLERY PRESENTS THE BOSTON BIENNIA1 2009 Inaugural Juried Exhibition of Contemporary Art Opening Reception: August 6, 6-9 pm: 80 Border Street, East Boston From August 6-22, 2009, Atlantic Works Gallery in conjunction with The Bien- nial Project and The Weekly Dig presents The Boston Bi- ennial 2009, a virtual snap- shot of contemporary art works currently being cre- ated by artists in and around the greater Boston area. Venice and Sao Paolo have one. New York, New Orleans and New Hampshire also have one. Even Worcester Massachusetts has one -- so shouldn't Boston have one?? "What," countless thousands may ask is "it?"... The "it" in this instance just so happens to be a biennial art exhibi- tion and, as of August 2009, the city of Boston will finally have its own inaugural juried exhibition of contem- porary art -- thus (hopefully) helping to elevate the status of the city in the eyes of the contemporary art world! The Biennial Project is an artists' collaborative whose goal is to explore the nature of and understand the per- ception of biennials within the art world. The simple definition of a biennial phe- nomenon is that it is a con- temporary art exhibit which J. PACE & SON CENTRAL, INC. The theme of The Boston Biennial is ... biennials ... and all the aspiration and greed, sublime insight and cheap self-aggrandizement, profundity and narcissism that biennials have come to represent. If artists have ever looked with envy at the burgeoning biennial activity around them, attended a ven- erable Biennale and said to themselves, "I can do better than that," or have no idea what a biennial is and just want to show their stuff to the world ... this bi's for you! The public is invited to at- tend the OPENING RECEP- TION on Thursday, August 6 from 6 to 9pm and to visit the gallery during the following hours: Fridays 2-6pm and Saturdays 2-6pm. The public is also invited to attend the Atlantic Works Gallery's monthly TH/RD THURSDAY SHINDIG on Thursday, Au- gust 20 from 6 to 9pro.
