BOSTON POST-GAZETTE, AUGUST 1,2014 Page 15 News Briefs (Continued from Page 1) The NY York Times in a July 9 editorial pointed out that Arizona is "a stronghold of the Minuteman border- vigilante movement and home to Sheriff Joe Arpaio, a cauldron of immigration extremism" What extrem- ism? Upholding the law that it is illegal to be illegal in America? Governor Jan Brewer is not as the Times asserts fan- ning "the flames of nativist resentment." Now that the bottom is fall- ing out of portions of both Iraq and Syria which are now controlled by ISIS, what is Obama to do. What is our strategy? Do we sit back and watch things like we did in Syria after that red line faded into history/ or do we do some- thing, anything. If we decide to do some-thing, will it be called Operation Mini- Surge or perhaps, Operation Regurgitate? What Republican Will Run for Prez in '16? I think Chris 'vvo Bridges" Christie is gone. I think Jeb Bush "the Immigration is an act of love" Bush is finished. Good Lord who wants Mike Huckabee? Marco Rubio tried riding the middle of the rode and became roadkill. Finally, we are back to Mitt Romney. In 2012, I voted for a third party candidate and would do likewise in '12 is Romney is back on the GOP ballot. McCain Nearly as Useless as Reid Recently, U.S. Senator John McCain told ABC's "Face the Nation" that he would be "proud" to serve with another President Clinton. Hillary Clinton has called McCain her favor- ite Republican? Enough said? Free Sergeant Andrew Tahmooressi! Apparently, the only person President Obama is seem- ingly helping to cross over from the Mexican border is U.S. Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi who has been sitting behind bars since taking a wrong turn at the border back in March. How long must he rot in jail to get the attention of the Obama White house? On Wednesday, July 23, AS Roma defeated Liverpool FC at Fenway Park 1-0, mark- ing the second encounter between the two clubs in Boston, the first coming in 2012 in a 2-1 Roma win. A packed Fenway was filled with spectators donning the famous red jersey of Liverpool which outnum- bered the yellow and red of Roma. National pride was on hand as others opted to wear the jerseys of Italy, Brazil and current champions Ger- many. Pre-game festivities in- cluded bagpipes along Yawkey Way helping to rec- reate the feel of Anfield, Liverpool's home stadium. The match started with Liverpool controlling play for the first 20 minutes, creat- ing the bulk of the action, yet failing to inspire any truly great opportunities.
