BOSTON POST-GAZETTE, AUGUST 8, 2014 Page15 Gridiron Audibles (Continued from Page 14) extensively while running the no-huddle offense. The up-tempo approach exposed glaring deficiencies in the Redskins defense, which seemed a-step behind and not up to the challenge. Brady and the Patriots of- fense, which looked off the first week of camp going up against their counterparts on the Patriots defense, seemed to find their stride versus the Redskins. Maybe the offense hasn't lost a step; it's early but maybe the Patriots defense is just that good. WITNESS, HON. EDWARD F. DONNELLY, JR., First Justice of this Court Date: July 29, 20!4 Tara E. DeCristofaro, Register of Pro'yt-~ Lester, Lackey, Doubront Gone as Sox Clean House Lots of Red Sox fans fig- ured Jon Lester wasn't long for Boston but most thought he was going to the Dodgers for Matt Kemp. He didn't and I was glad for that. We don't need a player who constantly seems to get hurt. Doubront went on July 30~ and the following day we said goodbye to Lester, Lackey, Andrew Miller, Jonny Gomes and Stephen Drew. Today, Clay Buchhotz is now the team's ace by vir- tue of elimination. He was still standing in Boston by process of elimination. Does he have it to be an ace? We shall soon see. As far as the players we picked up, many are promising prospects and one Yoenis Cespedes is an authentic homerun slugger, something the team needs and that could be helpful for David Ortiz too. However, our starting ro- tation looks pretty dismal and it would appear all the trades were made with an eye on next season. This year all seems hopeless and the dumping of both Lester and Lackey say the white flag has been raised. This team seems as bad as the September 2011 Red Sox and the Bobby Valentine Red Sox of 2012. Last year, John FarreU looked super, but this year he is looking like one of those one hit wonders. Bobby V must be smiling right now wherever he is. The Red Sox are on sched- ule to finish last, meaning that in three seasons they went from last to first to last. Has any team ever done this before? Not exactly a historical baseball mark to LEGAL NOTICE Commonwealth of Massachusetts The Trial Court Probate and Family Court Middlesex Division 208 Cambridge Street East Cambridge, MA 02141 (617) 768-5800 Docket No. MI14P3712EA Estate of LARENZEC PETE Also Known As RENNIE Date of Death February 8, 2011 INFORMAL PROBATE PUBLICATION NOTICE To all persons interested in the above captioned estate, by Petition of Petitioner Brenda J. At least in 2011, they con- tinued to pretend they were a Major League team until the beer and chicken just blew them away. Pedro's Brother's Perfect Game Lots of people forget that Pedro Martinez started out as a Montreal Expo and that his brother Dennis also pitched for the Expos. Pedro was a great pitching legend for Boston and while his brother Dennis pitched here at Fenway on his way out of baseball, back on July 28, 1991, Dennis pitched a perfect game against the LA Dodgers, something that alluded Pedro in his career. Whatever Happened to Great Starting Pitchers? Today, Major League Base- bail is so watered down that pitchers currently playing can no longer be compared to past greats like Juan Marchail, Sandy Koufax, Warren Spahn, Whitey Ford or even Jim Kaat. Where once pitchers sought to complete their games, today all that is expected is about six in- nings and their toast. I would say the bottom was failing out of the mound back 30 years ago but the drop actually began even 10 years LEGAL NOTICE Commonwealth of Massachusetts The Trial Court Middlesex Probate and Family Court 208 Cambridge Street Cambridge, MA 02141 Docket No. MI14D2224DR DIVORCE SUMMONS BY PUBLICATION AND MAILING ALEJANDRA RUIZ VS. Let me drop some names Mickey Lolich (Tigers), Jim Katt (Twins), Ray Culp (Red Sox), Tommy Seaver (Mets), Bob Gibson (Cardinals) and Nolan Ryan (Astros, Mets, Rangers and Angels). All these guys threw lots of innings, started over 35 games per season, lots of strikeouts and low ERAs. That was when baseball was baseball! My Baseball Amigos As a kid loving baseball, i loved playing and watchin~ the game. My heroes were many but I always liked following the Italian Ameri- can players' stats. While Down in Texas ... The Colorado Rockies knew when they signed Drew Stubbs that he had ability, and through' the first half of this season he has been quite productive for the team. The 29-year-old out- fielder was originally signed to play platoon in the outfield against left-handed pitchers but he has turned out to be a full time outfielder. It looks like the former Texas stand- out is standing out and part of the team's future. After playing for the Indians and the Reds and batting only .222, he looked like he was taking a big downturn of what promised to be a great career. How- ever, moving to Colorado, he turned things around. Mov- ing toward the All-Star break, he was hitting .292, 10 homers and 11 stolen bases. Against lefties, he is hitting .354. He is due to make $4.1 million this season and will probably get a good bump in salary next season. Trade rumors were out there. By the time you read this, he could be anywhere, but hope- fully still in Colorado where he seems to enjoy the mile- high air of hitting baseballs far and wide. Speaking of Texas The City of Austin is foot- ball country. It is Longhorn Orange all over the place. However, if you're a baseball fan and it's too far to travel to Houston or Arlington, you can take a short car ride to nearby Round Rock and catch a Round Rock Express Triple A minor game.
