Due to Hurricane Irene, the Saturday and Sunday festivities were post- poned until Sunday, September 4th, 2011. See below for Sunday's schedule. The Saint Anthony Society thanks Mayor Thomas Menino, The Office of Special Events, Arts & Tourism, Patte Papa, Fr. Antonio and Fr. Claude of Saint Leonard's Church, the members of the Saint Lucy Society, our vendors and sponsors and as always the residents and neighbors of Endicott Street. 10:00 AM Open Air Mass in honor of Saint Anthony followed by an individual blessing with the relic of Saint Anthony at the Bandstand located on Endicott Street. 12:00 Noon Grand Procession of Saint Anthony through the streets of the North End. 1:30 PM Live Entertainment by "Seabreeze." 5:30 PM The North End's own "One Night Only." 7:00 PM Live Entertainment by "Itamia." Fr. Claude blessing Saint Lucy before her procession on Monday, August 30 th. Bad News Bus Tour The president is now visiting the Heartland to show how much heart he has for the struggling middle-class and those hopelessly unemployed. [ Remember those old wagon trains back in the old west? Remember the old TV show with Ward Bond as the trail boss, the chuck wagon and the advance scout? Well, this looks Iike a wagon train too. The President rides in a $1 million plus bus. He arrives in Air Force One, his Mannes One copter is carted in a cargo plane and there's a 40-car entourage. Sounds like a good waste of tax dollars to me. Meanwhile, Congress has taken a five-week vacation and the President a Martha Vineyard family vacation. Both the deficit and growing debt seemed to have been placed on the political backburner. Brown and Perry Targets of Liberal Hypocrites Recently, a coalition of unions and liberal I groups unveiled a mobile billboard urging U.S. Senator Scott Brown to support higher taxes on the rich and corporations to help solve the nation's debt and deficit issues. This group says it will bring the billboard to events that the Massachu- I setts Republicans plan to attend.
