Three generations of Bocce players The i0 th Annual Taste of The North End Bocce Tournament was held on Sunday, September 22, 2013. The tournament was to be held at the Langone Bocce Courts but rain the night before drenched the courts and forced the tournament indoors to the Steriti Rink courts. The weather turned for the better and the players and spectators enjoyed a lovely sunny day on the Boston Harbor socializing and enjoy- ing an all day barbecue provided by Joe Pace & Sons. The event has always been popular and even the threat of rain couldn't keep away the faithful players who come back every year, some bringing their entire families to cheer them on and enjoy a day of friendly competition and great food. Chairman Donato Frattaroli along with Chris Zizza and Mirko Bisetta offici- ated over the tournament, calling 2-man teams in both courts to keep the action going. This year's winners were: I st Place - Robert and Peggy Magri, 2 no Place - Robert and Patricia O'Neil, 3 ra Place - Michael Zimmerman and Nate Mele, Jun- ior champs - Christian and Giulia Amaya. The final 8 teams to compete each represent a Gold Sponsor of the event - Lucia Ristorante, Filippo Ristorante, Ducali, Artu, North End Athletic Association, Joe Pace & Sons, Piantedosi Baking and Don and Sons. The winning team's names are engraved on a plaque placed on the Winner's Trophy with all past winners and they are allowed to keep the trophy until the next year's tournament. This year the winning team of Robert and Peggy Magri represented Filippo Ristorante, Filippo's will have the honor of having their name on a plaque on the Sponsor Trophy which they can proudly display in the restaurant until next year's tournament.
