POST-GAZETTE, NOVEMBER 2, 2012 Page 5 The Kiwanis Club of Medford Holds "A Taste of Italy" The Kiwanis Club of Medford held its annual charity event "A Taste of Italy" on October 23rd at John Accardi & Sons in Medford. Billy Costa, host of NECN's TV Diner and Kiss-108 personality, hosted the event which was held to benefit youth sports leagues, scholar- ships for high school students and the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute in Boston. The hundreds of people who attended enjoyed food from many local restaurants as well as great music and a raffle with a grand prize of a Fiat 500. [9 ON DELLA CH1ESA AT RENAISSANCE LO CS by Sal Giarratani The Renaissance Lodge, OSIA #2614, recently held a reception and dinner at the Algonquin Club on Com- monwealth Avenue in Boston's Back Bay. Main speaker of the evening was Ron Delia Chiesa, the well-known ra- dio personality who knows everything from classical to jazz to Strictly Sinatra and the Great American Songbook. He is a longtime lodge :member and came to speak about his long career and new book, "Radio My Way." He signed copies following his talk. It was a great way for Italian Americans to celebrate "October Italian Heritage Month" with the one and only Ron Della Chiesa. Ron grew up in Quincy during the Golden Age of Radio and developed a great passion for music as a teen and stud- ied at Boston University. He landed his first radio job at WBOS, hosting several shows including "The Italian Melody Hour". For over 50 years he has been hosting radio shows, concerts and social events all across the New England re- gion. You can now catch him On WPLM 106.7 every Sunday night from 7:00 pm until 2:00 am with both "Strictly Sinatra" followed by "Music of America" featuring tunes from the Great American Songbook.
