Williams chose Abbey Road Studios in London to record this moving soundtrack, utilizing 70 musicians and a 36-piece choir. The results are rewarding, with smooth bits of harmony throughout, all with the use of various instruments as Williams makes each track a new and exciting experience. Let the music take you through a multitude of emotions on a journey that will have you begging for more at the end of track #16. Andrew Garfield stars in this true story about an American World War II soldier who refused to carry a weapon into battle, but nonethe- less came out a hero. Tracks include "Okinawa Battlefield," "A Calling," "Throw Hell at Him," the title cut "Hacksaw Ridge," and "Japanese Retake the Ridge." The story's high-impact emotion is felt throughout, including Williams' "I Can't Hear You," "One Man at a Time," "Rescue Continues," "A Miraculous Return," "Praying" and "Historical Footage." When the battle is done, the movie and the music have wonl SULLY- MUSIC FROM THE MOTION PICTURE Var~se Sarabande Directing duties for Sully are handled by Clint Eastwood, as the true story of U.S. Airways Flight 1549 is told. The film stars Tom Hanks as Captain "Sully" Sullenberger and Aaron Eckhart as First Officer Jeffrey Skiles. The film tells the miraculous story of how this crew was able to glide their disabled plane with 155 passengers aboard safely onto the frigid waters of the Hudson River. This CD is a musical collaboration with Eastwood, Chris- tian Jacob, and The Tierney Sutton Band, including 19 tracks, including seven not featured in the movie. Jazz Grammy Award nominee Tierney Suttton provides most of the lead vocals, joined by her band's pianist Jacob, to paint a score that is a musical masterpiece. The lengthy "Sully Suite" begins the magic, followed by "Flying Home (Sully's Theme)," "Malfunction," "Hudson View," "Sully Reflects," and "I Could Have Lost You." The suspense and intensity of the film allows the music to soar via "Sully Running," and "Simulation." The music is right on schedule with "Sully Doubts," "Grey Goose with a Splash of Water," "Rescue," and "Flying Home." SUSAN BOYLE - A WONDERFUL WORLD Syco + Columbia Susan Boyle returns with A Wonderful World, her seventh al- bum in seven years -- that just has to be lucky[ One of the many album highlights has Boyle singing a virtual duet with the late Nat King Cole, as Cole's estate granted permission for a wonder- ful cut of "When I Fall in Love," plus a second duet with Susan performing "Somewhere Out There" with Michael Bolton. Boyle's heart-stopping vocals are easy on the ears, starting with the title track and a major hit for Louis Armstrong, "A Wonderful World," trailed by the moving "Angels," Abba's "I Have a Dream," and the haunting "Always on My Mind" (a huge hit for Willie Nelson and Elvis Presley). The mood is maintained with additional beau- ties like "May You Never Be Alone," Paul McCartney's "Mull of Kintyre," a cover of Madonna's "Like a Prayer." Boyle finishes her "Lucky 7" with the Disney classic "When You Wish upon a Star." FRANKIE MILLER'S DOUBLE TAKE Universal Music Group For those music fans who maynever have heard of Frankie Miller, please allow me to introduce you to his music. Miller has had his songs recorded by artists such as Rod Stewart, The Trav- eling Wilburys, Ray Charles, Etta James, Johnny Cash, and Roy Orbison. His work also includes stints with a host of rock legends, co-writing Thin Lizzy's "Still in Love" with the late Phil Lynott, and performing with Procol Harum. His songwriting career came to an abrupt end in 1994 when he suffered a debilitating brain hemorrhage. The Glasgow-born songwriter's friendscollaborated to record Double Take, using the 19-track album to create duets with Miller, using his demo songs, and malting them into finished songs. Take a taste of the duets with Frankie with "Blackmail" (Joe Walsh), "Where Do the Guilty Go" (Elton John and Steve Cropper). "Way Past Midnight" (Huey Lewis), "True Love" (Bonnie Tyler), "Kiss Her for Me" (Rod Stewart and Joe Walsh), "Jezebel Jones" (Kid Rock and Full House), and "Beginner at the Blues" (Delbert McClinton and Full House). That's just the half of it, as the gem duets continue to shine with "To be with You Again" (Kim Cames), "I Wanna Spend My Life with You" (Willie Nelson), "It Gets Me Blue" (Paul Carrack), "It's a Long Way Home" (Brian Cadd), "I Never Want to Lose You (Lenny Zakatek), and the solo Miller track "I Do." An awesome collaboration that is packaged as a CD + DVD, soon to be available on vinyl. JOHN COLTRANE - TRANE 90 Acrobat Records Trane 90 presents a four-disc anthology charting John Col- trane's journey from sideman to star. Had his untimely death not come at age 40 in 1967, he would now be 90. This package is hardly a greatest hits collection; it includes~a major new essay on Coltrane by saxophonist and author Simon Spillett, period photographs, and a bonus disc of live material tracing Coltrane's career back to his early broadcast work with Dizzy Gillespie a_nd Johnny Hodges. It also provides the ultimate opportunity to wit- ness Coltrane building his own legend, step by step. CD 1 includes "Stablemates: Coltrane the Sideman;" CD 2 has "Straight Street: Coltrane the Leader," CD 3 "Just Friends: Coltrane Collabora- tions," and CD 4 "Impressions: Coltrane broadcasts and private tapes." 35 memorable Coltrane tracks!
