POST-GAZE'I'rE, DECEMBER 2,2016 East Boston Salutes WWII Veterans A Frank De Pasquale Venture by Sal Giarratani Pictured, L-R: Theresa Malionek, Judge Joseph Ferrino (Ret.), Post 6 Commander Tommy Capobianco, John Aylward, Fran Riley, Marion Curtis, Jack Scalione, and Buddy Mangini. The East Boston Museum & Historical Society recently presented a Salute to Our WWII Veterans on Saturday, November 19th. The ITAM Post 6 was packed to listen to panelists share their memories and experiences during World War II. Among those sharing their stories were retired Judge Joseph V. Ferrino, Marion Curtis, John Aylward, and Ray Barron. Mrs. Curtis was the spouse of a Pearl Harbor survivor on that dreadful day, December 7, 1941. She also spoke about East Boston during the war, when Logan Airport and the City of Boston started dismantling Eastie's paradise, Wood Island Park. Ray Barron spoke about his exploits in Germany during the war, seeking out the enemy and finding a nice German girlfriend, too. Last to speak was John Aylward, who was the youngster on this panel who served during the Korean War.
