PAGE 8 POST-GAZETTE, DECEMBER 2, 2016 p-- ~ 5(. Don't Befieve Everything You Hear! by Sal Giarratani 4- Freeway with some of the donated pet food and toys. Katy Armour of the MSPCA-Angell Boston thanks Freeway and Marie Simboli for the generous donation that was made on behalf of Freeway's Annual Pet Food Drive. I am delighted by the outcome of my 6th annual Thanksgiving Pet Food Drive for all my pooch friends at the shelter. It was so successful, I am so thrilled! Let me explain, there were bags and bags of dog food, toys, treats, and of course, plenty of dry and wet cat food, plus cat toys and treats, too. My pooch and cat friends were so happy this Thanksgiving[ I am only a four-legged pooch and I think my pooch and cat friends deserve the best. Being in a shelter is very sad. Some pets come from broken homes, others have human companions that can't take care of them, and some are even abandoned. Sad, isn't it? These unwanted, loveable pets NEED A HOME; a place to feel safe, loved, warm, and taken care of. I'm lucky to have the pooch life that I do, and a human companion who is kind, caring, compassionate, and always there for me. Many individuals dropped off food. I have many friends in the North End and my human's personal friends from the Union Oyster House, Century Bank, close friends, and beyond. One donation that over-whelmed me was from a kind, thoughtful, and considerate individual who never thinks of himself, but always of others, and has no animal of their own. dust a giving person. That donation bought most of the food for the shelter. Also, I need to thank Joan, my co-worker from the Post-Gazette, who suggested from day one that we do a Thanksgiving Pet Food Drive. At first I didn't think it would be a good idea, but today, believe me, I am so happyshe came up with the idea because each year it gets better and better. Don't let me forget my driver, Louie Graffeo, who packed the car up and off we went! Thank you Lou." I THANK EVERYONE that shared in some way to make my shelter friends happy and I hope ALL of you had a Happy Thanksgiving!
